The Naro Moru Disabled Children’s Home started in 1979 sponsored by The Naro Moru Catholic Mission (Pordenone, Italy)  The Home is registered as a Harambee Project, under the Archdiocese of Nyeri. It is located in Nyeri North District, Kieni East Division about 5 kms from Naro Moru Town.
The idea behind the home came about because Missionaries visiting homes in the area met many disabled children who were receiving sub standard care.
The local community helped in the construction especially in the digging  the foundations.

The home was opened in January 1982.
